Are you finding the latest updates on LPG cylinder bookings and connections a bit confusing? Whether you use Indane, Bharat Gas, or HP Gas, staying on top of these guidelines is essential for a seamless kitchen experience. The government and oil marketing companies have introduced several changes over the past few months to streamline distribution.

Here is a breakdown of the key rules you need to be aware of.
Understanding Refill Intervals: The 25-Day and 45-Day Rules
To manage supply effectively, refill intervals have been standardized based on your location.
- Urban Customers (25-Day Rule): If you reside in an urban area, you are eligible to book your next LPG refill only after 25 days from your previous delivery or booking.
- Rural Customers (45-Day Rule): For those living in rural areas, the refill interval is set at 45 days.
These rules apply to domestic cylinders (such as 14.2 kg) and, notably, also extend to 19 kg commercial cylinders.
Switching to PNG? Here is the 30-Day Rule
If you have recently opted for a Piped Natural Gas (PNG) connection, there is an important regulation to note. Under the revised Liquefied Petroleum Gas (Regulation of Supply and Distribution) Amendment Order, 2026, customers must terminate their existing Indane, Bharat Gas, or HP Gas connection within 30 days of receiving their PNG connection.
Pro-tip: If you are worried about losing your connection permanently, the government provides a provision for this. You can obtain a transfer voucher, which allows you to restore your LPG connection in the future if you ever shift to an area without PNG coverage.
How to Surrender Your LPG Connection
If you need to surrender your connection, the process has become quite digital-friendly. You can initiate the cancellation online via your supplier’s official website or mobile app by entering your registered mobile number, reference number, and date of birth. Alternatively, you can use the official platform mypngd.in to submit a surrender request after verifying your details.
Key Documents for Termination:
- LPG Consumer Book or Subscription Voucher (SV).
- Original ID proof (Aadhaar, PAN, Voter ID, Passport, or Driving License).
- A written application or the surrender form provided by your distributor.
- Bank account details (for the refund of your security deposit).
Once processed, you will need to return the cylinder, pressure regulator, and consumer booklet to finalize the termination.
Staying informed ensures you avoid any last-minute hassles with your cooking gas supply. If you are ever in doubt, the best course of action is to check the specific, updated guidelines provided by your oil marketing company—Indane, Bharat Gas, or HP Gas—as minor variations may exist based on your specific subsidy status.
